"Had the wonderful experience of seeing Angels in America Part 2 last night! It was such a wonderful continuation of the first first play and the 4 hours just flew by, It kept me utterly transfixed for the entire run. Truly the best play I have ever seen. Stray Cat shows are always a gem and this one is utterly magnificent! The actors are all so charismatic and talented! Such a wonderful, quality production!" - SR

"Spectacular evenings in the theatre!!! LOVE Stray Cat!" - SH

"In 1994, in one day, I saw Parts 1 & 2 of “Angels in America” on Broadway with the original cast - Jeffrey Wright, Kathleen Chalfant, Stephen Spinella, Ron Liebman, Joe Mantello… I was honestly reluctant to show up to TCA this week because that day and production and performances were burned in my memory and it felt impossible and unfair to compare. But I decided to go anyway… how often do you get to see and hear one of the most brilliant pieces of text in the English language? And I am so glad I did. The raw, gaping wound at the center of this play, and the love and community that surround and work to heal it, are on full display in Stray Cat Theatre’s production. It took a village, an angel’s worth of vaginas and balls, plus some super special fairy dust to pull this off. Thrilled I got to bear witness. Thank you, friends and colleagues. Your bravery is truly inspiring and I am so grateful and our city is so lucky. Treat yourself - fabulous production of an astounding play." - BF

"Such a beautiful show and performances are so brilliant! More life y’all! KSAstounding. What a truly impressive display of artistry happening at Stray Cat Theatre. BOTH parts of Angels In America are presented with an astute eye, an emotional heart, and a full display of technique across the board. The script flys by dropping truth, insight, and humor in its path. Huge congratulations to Ron May, who is possibly the only AD around that could even pull this off. The cast is off the charts. A meeting of some of our best local actors. Cream of the crop in AZ, but also, these are stars by any scale...we just happen to be lucky enough to live in the same community as them, even though they would find success and would shine as brightly as the biggest broadway stars no matter where they laid roots. Namely, these two here. Michael Thompson has been my sister for over 20 years...yup. I've seen him in more roles than I could count, and this, for me, was Michael at his very finest. His skill aging like a fine wine. And to Marshall Glass, the linchpin of Angles, the prophet...there are few words worthy of your performance. Fire, breath, broken heart, gut punch....the type of tourdeforce you so rarely see. Your Prior is unforgettable. Thank you for sharing your talent and soul with all of us. The type of performance that will continue to inspire me for years to come. Congratulations to all the cast, crew, and staff. One more day to catch a glimpse of Angels on stage in Arizona. ST

"The whole show was amazing." - DG

"Such powerful performances." - KS

"Had the utmost pleasure of catching Stray Cat Theatre’s ANGELS IN AMERICA Part 1 AND 2 the last two nights between closing my first and teaching my 2nd of 3 productions this month.
You only have today to catch them.
Catch them.
Such a vital story for today, and this production is a masterclass of theatre. The cast. The direction. The tech. One of the best pieces of theatre I’ve seen in a hot minute. Do yourself a favor and go.
And don’t let the length dissuade you. It is a worthy break from the world." - MS

"I was at Berkeley Rep visiting a college buddy of mine ( she worked there) , and as we walked through the offices, she said now don’t freak out, for Tony Kushner is right through that door. I snuck up to the window, look through it and geeked out. As a huge fan of his work, I wanted to run in and shower him a praise. But I didn’t want to embarrass my girlfriend. Lol I’ve always wanted to see the whole of angels in America but because my back hurting, I knew I could only do one part of it. There was no way that I was going to miss brilliant direction from Ron May, seeing my brother  Michael Thompson absolutely slay, and an incredible revelatory performance by Marshall Glass that would be a SHAME for you to miss. And Megan Holcomb as the Angel, babbbbbbbyy….. The entire cast is awesome rounded with incredible artists in thr valley. Please lend your support! It’s not too late, you can watch the whole shebang top to tails today, what are you waiting for, a brilliantly, directed production, with epic actors, and a two-part, artistic feet by one of the greatest playwrights of all time. Do yourself a favor and make it down to TCA...Mazeltov to my Stray Cat Theatre, my favorite kitties in the land!!!" - CB

"Absolutely stunning. I cannot praise it enough." - AV

"There's something a little scary when you go see your most beloved play for the first time. There's a fear of disappointment. Like it won't be as wonderful as you envisioned it could be on stage. Stray Cat's production filled me with joy and broke my heart in so many wonderful ways. The enormity of emotions and sheer performance by everyone on that stage. Breathless. Angels in America was perfection for me..." - NT

I love when theatre doesn’t just entertain you… it follows you home a little.
Angels in America at @straycattheatre absolutely wrecked me in the best way. Funny, heartbreaking, beautiful, uncomfortable, human — all at once.
If you’re in Phoenix/Tempe, go see this before it closes this weekend.#fyp #instagramreels #theatre #gay #review" - LC

"To the cast and crew of this show, bravo.
These characters were brought to life in the most realistic and gut-punchiest ways imaginable. I was surrounded by people, but everyone else melted away and all I saw was the artistry onstage.
Production and crew:
Thank you for your hard work. I see you-lights, scenic, sound, costumes, all the way to run crew. Thank you for making this happen.
Actors:
The vulnerability, strength, emotionality, and heart you projected on that stage was breathtaking and inspiring. I want you to know that you broke my heart seven ways from Sunday and I’ll be back for round two tonight." - AG

"Bravo to all!! It's an excellent production on all counts! Cheers!" - SB

"...really beautifully done. We loved it. Can't wait for part 2!" - BM

"I cannot express how much joy this production brought me. Thank you." - NT

"Amazing! Loved it! Tonight, I had the pleasure of seeing Stray Cat Theatre's production of Angel's in America Part 1. I was blown away by the entire cast during every single scene. But, I have to give a shout out to four of my local favs. Devon Mahon, Marshall Glass, Louis Farber, and Michael Thompson. The amount of talent each of you have as individuals is incredible, but combined you created something truly remarkable! Never have I been as captivated and intrigued as to what was going to happen next. I can't wait for Part 2 tomorrow!" - KK

"Holy Fucking Peak! Eeeeeveryone go see ANGELS IN AMERICA!" - LG

"I just got home from watching Angels in America: Millennium Approaches at Stray Cat Theatre and man… like, it’s a Pulitzer Prize winning piece, what new thing can I say?… except that this is a very strong production and I’m legitimately thrilled to be going back for part two tomorrow night even though I’m deeply tired...and I just think you should probably go sit in an audience, surrounded by other humans, and experience that this weekend...seriously...incredible work. Totally blown away." - CC

"I woke up thinking about Angels in America. That’s how you know you made good art - it sticks with you. I had the rare opportunity see both parts at Stray Cat this week. Rare because It is a mammoth production to put up. But also rare because it was so well done. It is the most epic of plays you’ll probably ever have the chance to see, and you only have a few more days left in the run. Everybody involved I have mad respect for - such dedication and fortitude in your craft. I’m lucky to know two people involved. Ron May you’ve been living with this beast for a while now. Your vision has become evident. The picture is complete. Everything is there. In a play steeped in juicy characters all played with great depth, Nina Miller played multiple roles, which might have been the hardest of all. To be forced to turn on a dime (no wig or costume malfunctions!) while the rest of the characters lived in singularity. That is no small feat as an actor. High praise to both of you and the whole production. Really, it’s a marathon of a show, you both must be exhausted. Eat your Wheaties, you’re almost to the finish line!" - PH

PART II - "This production is so strong!  Go see!"
PART I - !"Brilliant work!" - ML

"WOW! So glad I made time to finally see this play after all these years! It is so sharp and funny and weird interesting and true - and strangely for a 30 year old work, timely. Stray Cat's production is CRISP and never misses a single step - three hours flew by and I'm excited to go back for part two! It was a great crowd last night and the whole experience spoke to the deep value of analog human connection. Loved!" - TF

"Just got home from part 1 of Stray Cat Theatre’s Angels In America , Millennium Approaches and as always am amazed at what a compelling piece it is and frankly a lot of fun to sit thru. This production no different. So you should go . You still have a chance to see both  parts 1 & 2 before closing. I won’t have a chance to see part 2, Perestroika,  so someone who goes will need to tell me how it all ends.. will the cat get on the tire or not???" - JG

"...damn that was an excellent piece of theater, your cast slayed...(we) really really enjoyed it. We’re gonna see part two Friday and are really looking forward to it. Seriously, excellent work." - DK

"...@ straycattheatre ambitiously mounting both parts in repertory is very much an “all is right in the world” kind of event that wild horses couldn’t stop me from seeing! Millennium Approaches was great, and I'm looking forward to Perestroika in the next few days." - KC

"Such an amazing play! Awesome actors! Go see this!!!" - IF

"People. This a gift that you MUST accept. It’s like you won the theater lottery. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing both parts one and two. It is a tour de force. Of course the script is like no other. Tony, Tony, Tony!!! ( side bar Tony Kushner is on an episode of Hacks and it’s hilarious) Anyway, AIA is heartbreaking and funny! Poetic and sometimes “like what is that”!?! The directing and staging …well, Mr Ron May: “ we’re not worthy” but we will willingly and graciously accept the gift of YOU! And the actors. Whew. Oh my, WHAT did I just witness!?! Each one was perfectly cast. Each one extracted an emotion from me, sometimes against my will. There is a point at which ( I won’t say which actor and I won’t say which scene - so as not to spoil anything) I felt like they looked at me and actually saw into my soul and I wept, and I know I’m not the only one. Just lovely theater. Go!" - CBC

"Congrats to Stray Cay Theatre on a wonderful production!" - BD

"Go see this ahow! Stunning work by the wntire team. Well done, Stray Cat Theatre!" - AB

"Don’t miss this epic...exceptional theater." - NS

"Got to see Angels2 yesterday afternoon. What? No talk back? As a playwright, it's weirdly inspiring to see a playwright who basically refused to leave out anything. Is that allowed? But what an accomplishment by Ron May, et al. to stage this outpouring of grief and history and, yes, hope. It really all does come together in this production. Go for the Angel visitations and hallucinating Mormons, stay for Louis Farber's cackling Roy Cohn, and the whole really strong cast. And don't miss the ending, I mean it. Great to visit with...others during and after to help unwind or digest or whatever is you do with something of this immensity." - JB

"Don’t miss out on this incredibly moving play!" - BM

"I got the see Part 2 of Angels in America last night and it was incredible! So powerful and beautiful and meaningful. I can’t properly express how amazing it was." - VR

PART II - "Saw Part two tonight...Perestroika was just as damn good as the first. No easy feat. Unlikely to be done in the Valley again for a long time...Go see it.it."
PART I - "Bold, beautiful, and brilliant!" - CC

"Not sure if you’re aware but a local theatre company has Tony Kushner’s Angels In America live on stage being performed. Those words are being said LIVE AND ON STAGE and that theatre was not full enough, imo. Yes, it is a time commitment and it costs money and I totally get that but I repeat— TONY KUSHNER’S ANGELS IN AMERICA IS HAPPENING ON STAGE IN THE VALLEY with Stray Cat Theatre at TCA. Part of what makes us human is our ability to tell stories. This is such a beautiful and painful and funny and gripping and all too human story. Take a beat, have a seat, and hear one of the greatest stories performed with so much love. Go on. Take the time to be human." - MN

PART I - "Millennium Approaches was AMAZING!!!! Looking forward to Perestroika!"
PART II - "We saw Part II last night. It is truly an epic undertaking of an important theatre piece. Well produced, directed and performed. I'm so grateful we have Stray Cat to bring us challenging, entertaining, thought-provoking theatre like "Angels". Please, please, please make time to see this production. You owe it to Stray Cat, the Phoenix theatre community and to yourself!" - SH

"I saw @straycattheatre’s Angels in America Part I last weekend at @tempecenterforthearts. It was an extraordinary production. I was blown away. The acting is superb. I rarely tear up but by the end of the show I was in crying. Can’t wait to see Part II on Sunday. You still have time to see both parts before it closes. This is a must-see." - MC

"Saturday night my parents and I saw Angels in America with @straycattheatre at @tempecenterforthearts. I’m still thinking about the incredible performance I had the honor of witnessing. This show is breathtaking, full of heart and angst, it’s timely, it’s courageous and it’s not often that you’ll get a theatre company that will put on both part 1 and part 2. Don’t miss it. This is a production that will be talked about for decades. Trust me on this. I remember seeing the show 25 years ago and it’s stayed with me all this time. Seeing it again with this phenomenal cast - devastatingly beautiful and damn funny too!! AZ peeps - don’t miss this show!!" - JF

"Angels in America Part 1, at Stray Cat Theatre is simply jaw dropping. I’ve seen parts one and two before. At #ActorsTheatrePhoenix and at #NearlyNakedTheatre and those were great, but this one. This one hits close to home. #MarshallGlass as Prior Walter slays in every scene and all of the actors are wonderful! But I really can’t say enough about the direction and the staging, the seemingly simple set used in complex ways. The lighting and the sound effects are supernatural. This one’s going to be taking home all the #zonies .
Don’t miss it. #ICan’tWaitForPart2!" - BM

"Sunday 5/3 matinee. Part 1: Millennium Approaches
Well, Stray Cat! Ya did it again. Bravo! You got me. I laughed, I cried. I loved the simple set, and Brooke was right 3 hours *poof* flew by in a flash. The actors were so darn good! What a wonderful afternoon at the theater.I cannot wait to see Part II.
Marshall Glass as Prior Walter broke me. Courtney Weir as Harper; so flawed and yet funny. Okay - I just loved you all. Thank you for allowing me to sit in the dark and forget the dumpster fire we are living in while reminding me how we got here. Go see this show." - CBC

"It was breathtaking and life affirming and heart-breaking. Ron May and Stray Cat Theatre thank you for bringing this to the Phoenix audience." - KW

"I had the chance to see ANGELS IN AMERICA: PART 1 at Stray Cat Theatre -- still thinking about it.
This play has meant a lot to me for a long time -- studying scenes in college, reading it in multiple classes, and returning to it again and again as one of the most powerful pieces of theatre out there. Getting to experience it live like this was something special.
I’ve heard from a few people that they might skip this production because they’ve seen the play before -- and I get that. But I’ll say this: it just hits different right now. I wish it didn’t still feel this relevant, but it does. And this production offers a completely new experience.
Also -- can we talk about the fact that they’re doing Parts 1 & 2 in rep with each other? Who does that!? It’s such a huge undertaking, and it makes the accomplishment of this production even more impressive.
The cast is incredibly talented, the direction has a clear and compelling style, and the whole production feels both grounded and expansive in all the right ways. It’s a tremendous accomplishment.
If you have the chance, go see it. Truly.
Huge congratulations to the cast, creative team, and everyone involved -- what an achievement. I’m looking forward to Part 2!" - JP

"Angels was FANTASTIC! Louis at his best....Whole cast was on fire. Truly amazing show, well done." -  JA

"On Friday evening Stray Cat Theatre opened their stunning and powerful production of ANGELS IN AMERICA Part One. I came down from Denver to witness my favorite AZ theatre company mount one of my favorite modern scripts—turns out to be the best idea I’ve had all year! Staged with extraordinary skill, keen wit and burning passion under the sure hand of Ron May, this production deserves sold out houses every night. Ron has gathered a powerhouse ensemble of versatile and appealing actors who portray the characters, relationships, fantasies and themes of this complex epic with vivid clarity and irresistible force. I have seen many productions of this fascinating play, and most were unable to fully reveal the many challenging layers and exquisite language of the script without sacrificing the urgent and headlong pulse necessary for the piece. This company succeeds in spades—and manages to convey every detail and sly nuance without ever getting bogged down and losing the breathless momentum needed to take the audience to each suspenseful high point. This production is endlessly entertaining—please, please do not miss this rare theatre miracle! I loved seeing the gorgeous, magical work of old friends and colleagues and several stunning performers who were new and wonderful surprises to me. It breaks my heart I will not be able to see Part II: Perestroika! Do not miss out, my friends!" - DV

"You have made Stray Cat into an important local theater that rivals ATC, TPTC, and Gammage. I should have known that Stray Cat could bring off such a challenging work like "Angels" with such a richly rewarding production!!!!" - CC

"Great powerful play. Another superb production by Stray Cat." - ST

PART I - "Had a smile on my face pretty much all evening getting to see some old friends absolutely crush it onstage in Stray Cat Theatre's production of Angels in America - Part One tonight. Absolutely fantastic production and performances that have left me very excited to see/remember how unhinged Part Two is when I go back next week for that. Definitely worth checking out in the AZ theatre scene!"
PART II - "Now that I've seen both parts of Angels in America at Stray Cat Theatre, I can share what an absolute treat it was...Louis Farber was fantastically slimy as Roy Cohn, Michael Thompson was expectedly brilliant as Belize...and it was such an joy to see Courtney Weir back up on a Stray Cat stage as Harper Pitt. Marshall Glass...absolutely excels in these productions as Prior Walter. And kudos to all of the newer faces...that round out the cast (Nathan Spector is frustratingly loathsome as Louis Ironson in the best possible way)! Definitely worth the long runtime, (blame Kushner for that since Ron May does a great job keeping everything moving at a fast pace)!" - TS

"Just saw the amazing 3 hour journey that is the first part of ANGELS IN AMERICA at Stray Cat Theatre. As always, Stray Cat…put on incredible show that is hard to find the words to explain. Go see it, everyone!! I’ll be back for Part 2 next week!" - SR

"I can’t stop smiling. That was a masterpiece. Please go see this incredible production. Part 1...runs this weekend and Part 2 is next. It's long, but so worth it. Want to feel alive and escape the feelings of impending doom (just me?) Make the time to experience ART. Congratulations to everyone, it's gorgeous." - KR

"The show is so beautiful." - JT

"Brilliant theatre." - PE

"Angels. In. America. @straycattheatre is phenomenal. Breathtakingly beautiful with a cast that embodies absolute perfection. Please go see Part 1 and PLEASE go back to see Part 2 and tell me every little detail about it!!" - JF

"Powerful, what an adventure, must, must see. I too will be back for play 2." - CH

"ANGELS IN AMERICA at Stray Cat Theatre is a thought-provoking, relevant, mind-blowing production. Not many theaters are brave enough to take on a piece of this magnitude. Smart, funny, poignant, with a cast that will knock your socks off. See Part 1 this weekend, and prepare for Part 2 next week!!" - SJB

PART II - "Saw Pt 2 of Angels in America. What can I say but amazing...Such a great production."
PART I - "Saw Part 1 of Angels in America at Stray Cat Theatre. Another excellent gripping dramatic production. All the cast put on amazing performances. Can't wait to see Part 2." - DF

"I almost felt high after the show because of how it left me!" - BU

PART II - "If you can you must, MUST go see Angels in America Part 2 at Stray Cat. Its all true. What everyone says. And my God you just want to have a good laugh- cry after. The cast, the direction, the movement, the words, the surprises, the whole thing. How huge it is. Together and separately .. Part 1. Part 2. Parts 1 and 2. What an undertaking and it works! Truly works."
PART I - "I appear slightly intox'd from the high of it! What a WHAT-A!  One of those theatre experiences that leaves you with continued replays in your head, glimpses of moments, questions you would like to ask but show just opened, and downright glee that Stray Cat remains solid in its ability and freedom of showcasing theatre that needs to be played. Wonderful portrayal and highlights of the change in our political atmosphere, treatment of AIDS crisis, love lost and humans crying for help. The themes of ANGELS IN AMERICA with expertly performed balance of tragedy, sadness, surprise and humor.  The actors were fantastic with special kudos to all because of their individual and combined abilities to tirelessly play off of each other and within roles, the staging and its interpretation, Ron May's expertly-crafted experience of AIA and treatment of important and telling shifts in story-telling and its momentum,  levels of humor and sadness.  I would love to go see Part 1 again and just before Part 2 to get more of the experience. Seriously. Fill those seats with BRAVO and kitty paws applauding!!!! Indeed.  Well done Stray Cat and friends!" - DL

"Just saw opening night - absolutely brilliant," - BB
